Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
I discovered my passion for photography later on in my adult life. My background was in education; but, after my mom passed in 2015 I delved into walking a lot and taking pictures along the way. It was meditative for me to be outside and in the areas she had loved to be. I felt as if I were reconnecting with her and she was walking alongside me.
My journey has been more of discovering and exploring my camera. I have taken some basic photography classes over the years as well as Lightroom and Photoshop. I love editing as this is where my creativity takes over and an image file becomes something new. Maintaining the natural colors and concept of the image is important to me. I don't add colors, just enhance what has been captured. However, on my abstract pieces, the colors have occurred when playing with lighting techniques.
As I look back on my younger years, I believe this is because nature has always been an important part of my life. I grew up on a 22 acre farm outside of Ithaca, NY which ran along parts of the Fingerlakes Trail.
